Paris Burlesque Festival is upon us

paris burlesqueLast October, the first edition of the Paris Burlesque Festival was a public and performer success with local and international stars and up and comers performing, partying, conferencing, watching and being watched in multiple events all at the Bellevilloise in Paris’ 20th. This year is set to be even bigger.  Artistic director and hostess of the festival, the iconic Juliette Dragon and here associate Archi Seb have been toiling away with a dedicated team who have transformed the Bellvilloise into a magical circus space which will open its doors to the public on Thursday 7th October for a four day celebration of classic and contemporary burlesque culture and performance.

LA burlesque star Kitten de Ville will be performing and giving a masterclass, the Cabaret des Filles de Joie (Ms Dragon’s troupe) will be sashaying in and out of performance and organisation roles and other guests include Lalla Morte, Anne Thropy and Brooklyn Babydoll. The Australian performers this year are Vivi Valentine, A’dora Derriere and Jazmin Baret and the short film ‘Urban Orchestra’ by Elise McLeod will be screened in the private cinema booths.

There will be a ‘pin ups in cinema’ conference, three cabaret revues, a pin up exhibition, a queer and a rock’n roll club night, a stage for emerging talent, a Burlesque Bazaar brunch and more. Check the Paris Burlesque Festival site for all information on program and tickets and, to get you in the mood, here is the Ruby TV memories from last year.
