Full House provokes near riots for the disappointed but joy and applaude from the public with Egyptian film The Grand Night

d96163c3-630b-4cdb-815e-81c09bbffdfdIt was full house at the Cairo Opera House last night with the screening of the Egyptian film in official competitions at the Cairo International Film Festival: The Grand Night produced by renowned Ahmed Sobki and directed by Sameh Abdel Aziz. The all stars cast included Samiha Ayoub, Safia Imari, Wafa Amer, Zina Ahmed Rizkallah and Mahmoud Jindi. A riot began to break out when the doors were closed and luckily we managed to slip in through another entrance thanks to security (and glittery attire). The social drama unfolds during the day the Egyptians celebrate the birth of a Saint and is bold, colourful and comedic for the public with much word play and family and social dramas and twists. The jury is still out on the critical acclaim of the work however the public applauded and clapped throughout, many staying on for the debate.
